Thermal Imaging Equipment –
Video Endoscopes – Photography

Horton Levi specialise in thermal imaging (thermography) surveys of all types and have invested in a wide range of equipment from hand-held 3-5 micron and 8-14 micron units to military specification high resolution scanners for aerial mapping of cities or boroughs and long range surveillance.

The practical appliance of Thermal Imaging is reliant on the equipment employed. To respond to every type of situation an appropriate thermal camera is required. For example, electrical surveys are normally carried out using hand-held 8-14 micron imagers, boilers or high temperature components are filmed with 3-5 micron units. Large estates, cities and multi-story tower blocks require far higher resolution equipment than the commercial hand-held types to enable very wide angle filming without loss of detail. With selected optics we can film the top of 18 story buildings in high detail from one angle. No one type of thermal imaging camera can be used satisfactorily for all applications.

Over the past 24 years we have developed unique equipment that allows fast economical filming of housing stocks from a vehicle. The equipment is remotely controlled and the scanner head is elevated to enable drive-by filming unobstructed by parked vehicles and hedgerows. This service is often used in conjunction with aerial filming to provide comprehensive and detailed thermal performance of housing estates.

The thermal imaging data viewed in real-time, is recorded on professional digital equipment. Reports are provided in hard copy and on CD for computer analysis and permanent archiving.

This aerial thermal image was filmed
from 3,000 feet. Note the white warm
underground hot water pipes that feed
the estate. Had there been a leak,
it would be immediately evident by
a white plume.

The lower Thermal Image was filmed with
portable equipment. Note the damp (white)
areas beneath the windows in this newly
insulated house

With over 24 years industrial experience in infrared thermography,
we offer our clients un-rivalled survey quality and data analysis
